Martene was born and brought up in Cape Town, South Africa in 1976 where she studied graphic design. She has now been living and working as an artist in London for the last 2 1/2 years. Her main interests are travelling exploring diverse cultures. Exotic destinations are a real source of inspiration, particularly Thailand.
Martene is passionate about 60's design and wallpapers, as well as oriental imagery. She explores many techniques from hand drawing, painting and digital manipulation. Much of her work derives from her travel photography.
